Editing & Saving

Editing & Saving Data

Data Bridge Pro allows you to edit database records directly in Excel and push changes back with full change tracking.

Making Edits

Once data is loaded, edit cells like any Excel data:

  • Modify values: Click a cell and type a new value
  • Add rows: Type in the first empty row below your data
  • Delete rows: Select row → Data BridgeMark for Deletion

Important: Your edits only exist in Excel until you click "Save Changes". No changes are made to the database until you explicitly save.

Change Tracking

Data Bridge Pro highlights all your changes:

  • Blue cells = Modified values
  • Green rows = New records to insert
  • Red rows = Records marked for deletion

Saving Changes

  1. Review changes
Click Data BridgeReview Changes to see a summary.
  2. Create snapshot (optional)
Click Create Snapshot to enable rollback if needed.
  3. Save to database
Click Save Changes to push edits to the database.
  4. Confirm
Review the confirmation dialog and click Confirm.

Validation

Data Bridge Pro validates your changes before saving:

  • Data type validation (numbers, dates, etc.)
  • Required field checking
  • Foreign key constraint validation
  • Unique constraint checking

Best Practices

  • Always create a snapshot before making large changes
  • Review changes before saving, especially deletions
  • Work with smaller datasets when making bulk edits
