๐Ÿš€ Getting Started

Do I need admin rights to install Data Bridge Pro?

No. Data Bridge Pro can be installed without administrator privileges. We offer a registry-based installer specifically designed for corporate environments where users don't have admin access.

Simply download the user installer and run itโ€”no IT ticket required.

Which versions of Excel are supported?

Data Bridge Pro supports:

  • Excel 2016
  • Excel 2019
  • Excel 2021
  • Microsoft 365 (desktop app)

Note: Excel for Mac is not currently supported. Excel Online (web version) is not supported.

How long does the free trial last?

The free trial lasts 14 days and includes all Professional features. No credit card is required to start your trial.

At the end of the trial, you can purchase a subscription to continue using Data Bridge Pro, or simply uninstall it.

๐Ÿ”Œ Database Connectivity

Which databases are supported?

Data Bridge Pro supports 10 database platforms:

  • SQL Server (including Azure SQL Database)
  • PostgreSQL
  • MySQL (and MariaDB)
  • Oracle (11g, 12c, 19c+)
  • Snowflake
  • Databricks
  • Google BigQuery
  • Azure Synapse Analytics
  • Amazon Redshift
  • SingleStore (formerly MemSQL)
Can I connect to multiple databases at once?

Yes! Each Excel worksheet can have its own independent database connection. You can have:

  • Sheet 1 connected to SQL Server
  • Sheet 2 connected to PostgreSQL
  • Sheet 3 connected to Snowflake

All connections work independently within the same workbook.

Can I use read-only database access?

Yes. If your database credentials only have read access, you can still:

  • Load tables into Excel
  • Use the Visual Query Builder
  • Use the AI Query Assistant
  • Export data

You simply won't be able to save changes back to the database. Data Bridge Pro will show a clear message if you try to save without write permissions.

Does it work with VPNs and firewalls?

Yes. Data Bridge Pro connects directly from your computer to your database server using standard database protocols (TDS for SQL Server, etc.).

If you can connect to your database from other tools on your computer, Data Bridge Pro will work. Just make sure your VPN is connected and any required firewall ports are open.

๐Ÿ”’ Security & Privacy

Is my data secure?

Yes. We never see your data.

Data Bridge Pro connects directly from your Excel to your database. Your data never passes through our servers. We have no access to:

  • Your database credentials
  • Your data
  • Your queries
  • Your audit logs

Credentials are encrypted locally on your machine using Windows DPAPI (Data Protection API).

How are my credentials stored?

Database credentials (when saved) are encrypted using Windows DPAPI and stored in your user profile. This means:

  • Only your Windows account can decrypt them
  • They're protected by your Windows login
  • Other users on the same computer cannot access them

You can also choose not to save credentialsโ€”you'll just need to enter them each time you connect.

Is Data Bridge Pro SOC 2 compliant?

Data Bridge Pro is designed with enterprise security in mind, including:

  • Complete audit logging of all data operations
  • No data transmission to external servers
  • Encrypted credential storage
  • Support for Windows Authentication (SSO)

For specific compliance questions, please contact us to discuss your requirements.

๐Ÿ’ณ Licensing & Billing

How does licensing work?

Each license is tied to one user and one computer. When you activate Data Bridge Pro:

  • Your license key is linked to your machine
  • You can use it on that machine as long as your subscription is active
  • If you get a new computer, you can transfer your license (deactivate old, activate new)

Team licenses allow multiple users, each with their own activation.

Can I share my license with coworkers?

No. Each license is for a single user on a single computer. Sharing license keys violates our terms of service and will result in the license being deactivated.

For teams, we offer discounted Team licenses starting at $79/user/month (minimum 5 users). View pricing โ†’

What happens if I cancel my subscription?

If you cancel your subscription:

  • You can continue using Data Bridge Pro until the end of your current billing period
  • After that, the add-in will stop working
  • Your data in Excel remains intactโ€”it's just a normal spreadsheet
  • You can resubscribe anytime to restore functionality
Do you offer refunds?

Yes. If you're not satisfied with Data Bridge Pro, contact us within 30 days of purchase for a full refund. No questions asked.

We recommend trying the 14-day free trial first to make sure it meets your needs.

๐Ÿ› ๏ธ Features & Usage

What's the difference between AI Query Assistant and Visual Query Builder?

AI Query Assistant: Type what you want in plain English (e.g., "Show me all customers from Texas who ordered in the last 30 days") and AI generates the SQL for you. Great for ad-hoc queries and exploration.

Visual Query Builder: Drag tables onto a canvas, click columns to select, draw lines to create joins. More structured, no AI required. Great for building specific queries visually.

Both tools generate SQL that you can edit, save, and reuse.

How does rollback work?

Every time you save changes to the database, Data Bridge Pro automatically creates a snapshot of the data before your changes.

If you make a mistake, click Rollback in the ribbon, select the snapshot you want to restore, and confirm. Your data will be restored to that point in time.

Snapshots are stored locally and kept for 30 days by default (configurable).

Can I use Data Bridge Pro with very large tables?

Yes, but with some considerations:

  • Loading: Excel has a limit of ~1 million rows. Data Bridge Pro will warn you if a table exceeds this.
  • Performance: Tables over 100,000 rows may take longer to load and edit.
  • Recommendation: Use the Visual Query Builder or AI Assistant to filter data before loading. Load only the rows you need to edit.
